An evergreen note is an atomic note used to capture concepts, and create links with other atomized concept notes. Through this practice, knowledge is internalized and connections to other areas of research and interest can be made.

According to Andy Matuschak, the creator of the evergreen note:[^1]

Unlike Luhmann’s Zettelkasten approach, notes can and should evolve over time. While the Zettelkasten creates structured links between notes, the idea is to build on the ideas though new notes. With the evergreen approach, ideas can be built upon through both addition and revision. It’s linked to the concept of learning in public.
